Back on the road again

For quite some some my inspiration to make cards was gone. I had a long list of cards I had to make (four birthday cards), but didn’t feel like starting on any of them. A few weeks ago a friend of mine asked for a birthday card. Even though my inspiration was gone, I said yes. I really wanted to help her out. And I thought that maybe I could retrive some of the inspiration I once had so much of. Luckily I did.

This is how my livingroom table looks like from time to time. I’m in the middle of making a card there. Various things I use for making the cards are scattered around the table. What you see here is only a tiny bit of all the stuff I got.

Here is the box with most of my tools, papers, paperflowers, pins, foam letters, glue, rubber stamps, ink etc etc. It may seem a lot, but you need a lot when you have a hobby like this. You can’t just have a few things, because it will limit you in how to make the card. As you see other cards, you get inspired and realise you need to have even more things. It’s very hard being modest when it comes to purchase things.

Well, all the stuff I have, made it possible to make these following cards:

Birthday card for a friend. It says ‘big boys also celebrate their birthday – happy birthday’.

Another card with the same rubber stamps, but made totally different. I like this card better.

This card I made for mum. She’s giving it to a friend, who is the mum of a friend of mine. Vigdis likes flowes a lot and spends quite some time in the garden. So a green card it had to be.

Pastel card. Made to a friend. That mouse is so cute! Its happy face makes me smile.

Now I’m going to contine make some more cards. Got two birthday cards I need to make. And I need to finish up a ‘best-friends’ card I’m giving a friend of mine. I’m very excited to dig into all those different kinds of pattern paper, rubber stamps, foam letters and make fabulouse cards.

Papers & organizing

I had my first day at work after the Christmas holiday today. Man, it was tiring. I fell asleep late last night and didn’t get enough sleep. My breakfast was two donuts and a glass of milk.

When I left the office I had to go to the postoffice to post a few things. I went downtown. My packages was already pre-stamped so I just had to deliver them. No queue!

I treated myself with a trip to two scrapbooking stores after that; Steffens and Panduro. I had two things I needed:

Cardboard in various colors. I picked a little bit of everything. It’s good to have some basic paper when you’re gonna make cards. That Bloom & Grow pattern paper was on sale. My mind tricked me into thinking I needed it. I got a lot of pattern paper for Christmas (from my scrapping-friend  Sissel), but this was so beautiful and on sale…

Storrage for my cardboard and pattern paper. I do have one of the boxes (bottom picture) already, but it’s full! I need to devide the papers in two categories; one with pattern paper and one with one-color cardboard.

I also bought a few other things on sale. Some Christmas things; stickers for Christmas light, stickers for gift-tags or cards and two of the same plywood figure for Christmas cards.

Now I’m ready to make lots of cards; mostly birhtday cards. I have some upcoming birthdays that I need cards for. And I think I’m gonna give a set with five or ten birthdaycards as presents as well.

It will be a lot easier to do this now,  since I’ve tidied up in my scrapbook-things. I put away all the Christmas things and organized the rest.

I’m good to go :)

Scrapbooking session 1

Right before Christmas I got invited by Sissel to a scrapbooking day at her friend Guro’s pub. This was today.

I took the train at 13.20 and Sissel picked me up 14.10. We drove straight to Guro. The rest of the people would come around 15.00.  In total we were 11 girls in the pub. I knew Kristin, a friend of Sissel, who I was gonna ride with back home. A few people I’d seen once before, but there were most unknown people.

I brought a bag with cardboard and papers and a small box with different stuff in it. Most had LOTS of stuff. It was huge suitcases with all sorts of stuff.

When you do this for a whole day, you might think that you’ll have time to make lots of cards. But you don’t. The reason for that is that you also watch what others do. This way you get inspiration. And then you chat with the others and that doesn’t make you very efficient. But I don’t want days like that to be a card-making marathon. If I can make a few cards, I’ll be satisfied.

On todays list I had a few birthday cards. These three first months there are a few birthdays to cover; Ranjan, Lisbeth, Hanne, Sissel and Linda. And there are to births too that I need a card to.  So all in all, I need seven cards for the three first months.

Today I managed to make two of them. Both to Hanne. Well, one is for her baby-boy who will arrive sometime in March we think.

I like to make the cards fairly simple. Not sure if that really is because I can’t make it any more difficult or if it’s because I like simple. A combination maybe…

In between all the working, we did eat. Guro ordered four large pizzas. I can’t say I was very impressed with the local pizza place. 50% (two out of four) pizzas were not what we had ordered. We ordered a pizza with chicken and got something taco-ish. And we ordered something with beef on and got kebab-meat. They were good those pizzas too, it wasn’t that, but it was rather poorly that they came with the wrong pizza.

Oh and the pizza guy called and said he had trouble with his car. So Guro and Sissel went out, walked over the field outside Guro’s house and found the car having some trouble. They both had to push the car to get on the right track again. lol.

I was lucky enough to get a ride with Kristin back home. If not, I think I would’ve stayed the night at Sissel’s house. I’m glad that I could sleep in my own bed tonight.

Kristin developed a bad headache. She’d had it when she came, so she’d gotten a painkiller and beaten the headache. But the headache came back when we were leaving. And it was close to turn into a migrain. So, we were both quite silent in the car. Kristin had to keep silent and just concentrate on driving.

So while she was driving, I was sitting next to her thinking. I came up with some ideas for a new card;  Linda’s birthday-card. And I thought some of the scrabble project.

Right now I’m dead tired and should really go to bed. I’m hungry and should’ve eaten something, but I don’t have anything nice to eat. I don’t have any bread, just buns to heat up. And that takes forever. So I’m not gonna do that. I’ll just have a glass of milk and then hit the sack.
