New, old friend and a phototrip

I met my new, old friend Ian in mid November. He put it so well when he said we were new, old friends. The thing is, we’ve known each other for ten years, but never met until now. Ian, who is from Minnesota, US, studied 6 months in Oslo ten years ago and he became friends with an ex-colleague Lars.

The past two months, I’ve been out photographing in  Oslo. There hasn’t been anything in particular I’ve been aiming to shoot, I have just wanted to shoot things I that catches my eyes and I find pretty / interesting. I’ve also wanted to spend more time with my 35mm lens, so that have been my primary lens when I’ve been out photographing. I’ve been walking around different parts of time, both the center of Oslo and the west side.

Colorful Oslo III

The fascination for colorful buildings haven’t stopped yet and when you walk around Oslo you’ll see many of them. You just have to go to places that’s not in the middle of Oslo, stay away from the parade street Karl Johan’s gate and the streets where the shops are located. If you avoid the inner city, there are many of beautiful building with different colors.

Colorful Oslo II

June has really graced us with great weather here in Oslo. For days now it has been warm and sunny. Early this week the temp was close to 30C; it has cooled off a little bit now and today I think it was 23C.

I put on a summer dress this morning, ready to embrace the city. First on my to-do list was to run some errands downtown and I had planned to meet up with my friend Ellen. We stopped by a few stores, bought a few things, walked around time, devoured an icecream each and sat under a tree and played a geography quiz on her phone. After three hours together we parted, she had another meeting.

Doors II

We’ve had some great days weather-wise here in Oslo (Norway) the last days. It’s been over 20 degrees celsius and very sunny. I took the opportunety to go out on a photo trip on sunday, after dropping of a friend, who had visited me, at the bus station. Once again, I decided to go door scouting, since I love doors so much. I went to the west side of Oslo this time too, but in a slightly different area.

Foggy Oslo

IMG_8508small

The last weekend before Christmas I had some free time and I went downtown to do some photographing. I haven’t done that in ages and lately I’ve missed it. I wasn’t feeling 100% well–a starting cold was present, so my energy level wasn’t on top and my phototrip didn’t last that long.

What made me go out was the thick fog that lay like  a carpet over Oslo. Normally I stand on my balcony (on the 5th floor) and look over Oslo and the fjord. I got  great view over the city. That saturday I didn’t see anything. The fog had hidden all the buildings and the fjord.

And then… there were more bikes

011213- 453sHere are part two of the bikes I shot on sunday. I found lots of beautiful old bikes. People are speding lots of money on new and fancy bikes, but apparently there are quite some people that loves the old ones as well. I like that. The old ones has way more charactere and they areway prettier than the new ones. Don’t you agree?

Along the riverside

250513- 305sGoing through my archive, I sometimes find photo gems, a couple of photos I’ve turned down that I now find worth editing and  blog or put up on Flickr. Not often do I find a whole set of photos that has been untouched. Earlier this week I did just that. I found a folder with photos I’ve hardly looked at. It made me happy.

These photos are taken late in May, when my friend Ellen and I went on a small photowalk. Ellen wanted to show me this path a friend had shown her once. I was eager to go, because she did tell me about it and it sounded like a great opportunity to bring my camara. We walked on a traile alongside the river. It was really beautiful. I love these hidden places around the city. Being there you didn’t really feel like you were in the city, but rather someplace on the countryside.
