Phototrip: doors, doors and more doors

As stated in my previous post, I went on a photo trip last saturday. In addition to various things, I photographed doors. After I came home and had looked through all the photos I’d taken, I found out I really like blue and green doors. They are usually the prettiest one. Brown and grey doors are usually a bit duller. I wouldn’t mind a orange, purple or yellow door, but they are hard to find. It is sure on my list of things to look for and I do, but so far this year I haven’t spotted any.

What I have spotted is this:

Out of these doors I think I like the top door best; with the blue color and the horisontal lines. I also like the green door very much as well. The color is gorgeous and the vertical glasses is a nice touch.

Which door like you the  most?

Food project and new projects

The food project is finally over. I posted the last photo of a chopped up zucchini the 15th of May. It has been a fun project to do. Some letters have been harder than others; like Q, U and X. But with a little bit of creativity, I managed to pull it off. It took me longer than  planed. Way longer. I thought I would finish it in less than two months. It took me eight!

When doing such a project, there is always some photos you’re more satisfied with than others. I have a few that I really like.

B = blueberries. I don’t like blueberries myself, but they are pretty to photograph. When I was younger blue was my fave color. Now it’s green.

N = noodles. I rarely make noodles. These noodles comes from Mr. Lee. What I like here is the different focus in the two photos.

E = eggs. I love, love, love, love eggs. They can be cooked either well done or medium. Scrambled eggs with chives, a little bit of salt and some pepper is yummy. Fried egg  is great with bacon. Fried on both sides. It doesn’t matter if the yolk is broker or not. Omelette is also great. I photographed an home made omelette for the letter O.

Now it’s time to think about new photo projects. I like to have a project going. I started a new project today. It’s called memories. I will take photos of things / places etc that evoke a memory. And then I will write a little not that’s attached to the photo, to explain myself. I made set on flickr with my photos. So far it only contains two photos; one I took this weekend and a old photo that I found out fitted in my set. In the end, if I get enough photos, I might make a book out of it.

But this project isn’t something I will work on every day. I will work on it whenever I find something to photograph. So in addition to that project, I will have to come up with another one. I have a few ideas, but I’m not sure yet what to do. Hopefully I will decide soon.

Bikes on a sunday

Today it’s all about bikes. I visited Ellen today and on my way there and on my way home, I found a few old, pretty bikes to shoot.

Seeing the blue bike above, I can easliy make a story up in my head about what the person who owned this bike would carry in the wodden box. If I close my eyes, I see lots of vegetables like a bundle with carrots, a small bag with potatoes, a big head of cauliflower and some rhubarb peeking up from the box.  And whent this person came home, she chopped up everything (except the rhubarb) and made a lovely vegetable soup.

Seen from the other side. And belowe, you can see all of it. Well documented bike!

Ellen and I, we went on a hour-long walk today. It was so nice. We left her home and went in a direction we hadn’t been walking before. I don’t think either of us has been in this particular part of town. At least not the exact street we walked down.

We walked through this beautiful allotment with brick houses. It reminded me a lot of England. It was so beautiful. I forgot to take any photos of the place. I think I have to go back on a sunny day and take some photos. I’ve already talked to Ellen about it (via msn) and she agrees. We both prayed to the weather-god simuntaneously about sunny weather, so I’m pretty sure we’re everything is taken care of now. hehe.

Super cool racing bikes. Almost monocrome; not on purpose.

Racing bikes brings me back to my childhood. My sister had a purple racing bike. It was awesome! Sometimes I borrowed it when I was biking to my grandparents house. I only had a white and pink bike and it wasn’t cool AT ALL. Things changed when I was 14. When I got confirmed, I got enough money to by myself a new bike. So I bought myself an off-road bike which was black, white and red. I was finally cool again.

Could I post photos without a diptych? Apparently not. So here’s one on the end of this post.

Photoproject – day three

Today has be just as warm as yesterday. The sun is shining and the sky is blue. A shame that I had to work an hour extra, when the weather was so wonderful. But it was the only option. The last days have been very hectic. There has been so much to do; especially since I’ve got vacation next week and have to finish a lot of things before that time!

There were several times I wish I could put myself on a bike, like the one pictured about, and ride away in the sunny weather. Ah! What a bliss that would’ve been. Only one more day now. Only one!

The last hour I worked I had to calm myself down (try to reduce my level of annoyance, haha) with some music by Springsteen. I made myself a playlist on Spotify which contained calm songs like Blood Brother, Secret Garden, Streets of Philladelphia, My Hometown and Jungleland.

It made me happy to think about the camera I had in my purse. Taking photos always makes me happy.

Here are a few other shots I got on my trip home.

Yummy light and bokeh. I love sunlight. This was just a snapshot of the hedge next to the bike I photograhped .

Another diptych. A swing and a bench. I would like to sit on both right now. Be skyhigh with the swing or read in the latest number of the Backstreets (Springsteen fan mag)

Some more flowers in a pot. I never get tired of them. Beautiful flower and matching blue pot!

Flower power

Day two of my photoproject is soon over. It was lovely to leave the office a few mintues past 16.00, after a stressfull day at the office, knowing I was going on the hunt for todays shot.

I walked in the same area as yesterday; Kampen. It’s a lovely area east in Oslo with lots of wodden buildings in lovely colors.  I can walk through that area and take the bus home, a few stops away from the start/end stop where usually take the bus from.

It was a bit windy today, but still quite warm. The sun was shining and it was lovely to walk around hunting down things to photograh. The flower photo above is todays ‘official’ photo.

I also ended up with some other shots.

More flowers. I love daisies. A huge  pot with flowers brightens up a entrence and is most welcome in my eyes. I saw quite a few pots like this and I took a shot of almost everyone!

Lots of yummy white bokeh. I can see this photo in a diptych; with either a blue shot or a green one. Don’t think I have anything that matches yet, but I’ll keep it in mind.

Here is one of the colorful buildings I was talking about. I really like the lines in this one. And the pink color! I’m not a huge fan of pink, but this is cool.

Even though I’m just at day two, I’m really enjoying this photo project. It’s fun and I like that it’s a bit easier than my last one. Summer is a wide theme and I can do so much. And I’ve said tomyself that if I run out of ideas on the summer theme, I can always change it. I can skip any theme and just shoot whatever I want.

But for now, I’m sticking to summer!

Summer in the city

Things were a bit stressfull at the office today. I had to work an hour extra to finish all the things I needed to get done. Phew! It was really lovely to go out in the sun and walk around take some photos for my summer project.

I guess I walked for half an hour all together. Not that much, but better than nothing. The sun was shining and it was quite warm.

This is the first photo in my summer project. I started with a diptych. I’ve called it summer in the city. The pedestrian crossing represents the city and the bench and the sunlight represents the summer.

I really love spending the summer in the countryside, but it’s not so bad spending summer days in the city either. Right now I’m happy I can leave my balcony door open all evening without it being cold in my apartment. I even opened it this morning to get fresh air in. It was lovely!

The city also has flowers. Can you survive without flowers? I think not.

I was put on a big test today. As I walked home I came to this grocerystore. Outside they had a commercial-thingy saying they had icecream on sale. My fave icecream. 10 in a box for only 17 NOK. That is so ridicuoulsly cheap. But I’m on a little icecream / chocolate break right now. So what else could I do than walk away? Let me tell you,  It was hard. Very hard.

Well. I’m here and I’m not dead. So I can survive without icecream! But to take care of my urge for something sweet, I’m gonna eat some banana & milk. Chop up half of a banana, put it in a bowl, add milk and some sugar.

Eat!

Two for the price of one

For a little while now, I’ve had two things I want to achive. That is:

  1. getting healtier / lose a bit of weight
  2. start a new photoproject

It didn’t take me long to see that I easily could combine these two. As a part getting healtier, walking is a key. I need to walk more. Maybe running would be better, but I HATE running and I wouldn’t be able to combine running and photographing. So I was thinking ‘why not take photos when I’m out walking’? There isn’t really a reason not to.

I’m planning two competitions.

1.

Losing weight. It’s hard to lose weight on your own, so I’m starting a competition with my friend Linda again. This time the deal is to lose the most weight in 3 months. The one who loses, has to give the other 350 NOK to buy clothes for. No date are set yet, but I think we’re gonna start soon. Maybe next week?

My plan is to walk way more than I now and since I need to take a photo each day, I will get a lot of excercise! I’m also going to eat less candy / icecream. We’re heading into summer now and I eat less chocolate during the summer. But I eat a lot more icecream… It’s going to be hard.I think the key is to just not buy anything! If there isn’t any temptations around, I won’t be able to eat it.

I think I will try eat more berries, like strawberries and raspberries. They can replace the icecream / chocolate.

2.

A 3 month photo-project. I will be taking one photo each day. This challange will start tomorrow. It will be a summer 2010 theme since it will go from June to the end of August.

The last days I’ve been hooked on diptyches, which I am now and then. So I was thinking that at least one, maybe two days in one week, I will do a diptych. I just love to tie two photos together.

I’m quite excited about this photo project.

I’ve already thought about making a book out of it, but I’m not sure. I haven’t finished the door book yet… Things need to be more organized this time, if I’m gonna make a book. I would need to work on the book each week. We’ll see.

Wish me good luck on both projects! I know I will need all the luck I can get!
