Hipp Hipp hurrah!

For a whilte now, my inspiration for making cards have been gone. I guess that it got a little bit too much before Christmas with all the Christmas cards and the brithday cards I made as a gift for my sister.

Late january and early february start with some birthdays and a newborn baby. I had to make some new cards. It’s out of the question to buy any; I have so much crafting stuff that I need to put into good use.

Slowly, as I started on my first card I found some well hidden inspiration. In pure happyness over this newfound inspiration I called mum and asked her if she wanted a card she could give to my sister, who’s got her birthday on sunday. Well, I didn’t put it like that, I just asked her if she needed a card for the weekend. She said yes. Little did I know that she said yes, that she was talking about a card for a friend of my parents. It was some confusing seconds until everything got cleared. And suddenly I got two cards to make; one for my siter and one for my parents friend.

It feels great to be creative again that way; it’s been a while since last time. Here is what came out of my creative outlet:

A friend of mine got a girl late in January. I made her this girly card – to match the girly name Madison Tate.

For my sister. This card is going to be from me. I bought some die-cuts a few weeks ago. Well, my colleague Sigrund bought it for me actually. I love the circle die-cuts; they are awesome. The package contained 21 pieces I think.

Another card for Hanne. Very simple this too. But you know me – I love simple cards.

This card is for a friend of my parents. He’s a hunter; every year he go moose-hunting. I knew I had to make a green card with a moose on it. I love to make card that reflects the person getting; letting the card say something about them. It’s not always easy, but I try my best. The text on the card says ‘big boys celebrates their birthday too – happy birthday’.

And last but not least; a birthday card for my nephew Emil. It’s not his birthday until March, but I found this awesome pirate pattern paper at Panduro and I just to make something of it right away. This card is different than most cards I make. I got the idea from Sigrund. She showed me a card she’d made and I instantly wanted to try it out myself. I really like cards with ‘wings’ and will try make more of them. My nephew Emil, he is very into everything pirat-y. So I had to make him a pirate card. This time I’ve even putten pattern paper inside the card; never done that before.

That’s all! (Like Meryl Steep says in awesome movie ‘the Devil wears Prada’.)

So what do you think? Do you like them? Would you be happy getting such a card from me?

Again something happened while I was making one of the cards; it was one of my sisters cards. I needed a color to color something on the card and I wanted it to match the color of the pattern paper. That proved to be hard. I didn’t have the exact colour that I wanted. I did find a colour that almost fitted, but it wasn’t perfect.
So yet another time, was I looking at the colour chart picking out what my next colours to buy would be. So far I’ve just written down the names. I need to wait after my salary comes in before I can buy anything (my dentist ruined me!). It itches in my fingers to go buy them right now. But I’m telling my self over and over gain; be patient!
I’ve come to the conclution, that I actually was afraid I would come to; I need all the colors there is. Promarker pens have over 100 different colors, at least; I’ve lost count.

I need to make one more card. Next sunday we celebrate Mothers Day, it’s always the second sunday in February. I need to make her a card. I’m looking forward to make one. Now I’m looking forward to go to bed ;)

Back on the road again

For quite some some my inspiration to make cards was gone. I had a long list of cards I had to make (four birthday cards), but didn’t feel like starting on any of them. A few weeks ago a friend of mine asked for a birthday card. Even though my inspiration was gone, I said yes. I really wanted to help her out. And I thought that maybe I could retrive some of the inspiration I once had so much of. Luckily I did.

This is how my livingroom table looks like from time to time. I’m in the middle of making a card there. Various things I use for making the cards are scattered around the table. What you see here is only a tiny bit of all the stuff I got.

Here is the box with most of my tools, papers, paperflowers, pins, foam letters, glue, rubber stamps, ink etc etc. It may seem a lot, but you need a lot when you have a hobby like this. You can’t just have a few things, because it will limit you in how to make the card. As you see other cards, you get inspired and realise you need to have even more things. It’s very hard being modest when it comes to purchase things.

Well, all the stuff I have, made it possible to make these following cards:

Birthday card for a friend. It says ‘big boys also celebrate their birthday – happy birthday’.

Another card with the same rubber stamps, but made totally different. I like this card better.

This card I made for mum. She’s giving it to a friend, who is the mum of a friend of mine. Vigdis likes flowes a lot and spends quite some time in the garden. So a green card it had to be.

Pastel card. Made to a friend. That mouse is so cute! Its happy face makes me smile.

Now I’m going to contine make some more cards. Got two birthday cards I need to make. And I need to finish up a ‘best-friends’ card I’m giving a friend of mine. I’m very excited to dig into all those different kinds of pattern paper, rubber stamps, foam letters and make fabulouse cards.

A few new cards

I’ve made a few more cards the last week. It have been a lot of fun. My livingroom table has been covered in all kinds of scrapping things; rubber stamps, paper, paper flowers, half pearls, glue, scissors, pens, ink etc.

I have so much stuff, but it seems like I can’t get enough. My colleague Sigrund texted me today saying there is a scrapping fair in March; the 12th and 13th to be exact. I was so happy about the news. Last week I asked her if she knew if there were going to be any fairs this winter; it usually is. She hadn’t heard about any. I’ve checked out the place where they use to have a fair around these days, but nothing was anounced. But now it is! I’ve checked the date and I got no plans so far. So I’m definitely going and I’m looking forward to it. It’s the big fair, that was last September, but still – it’s a fair!

This is the owl card I mentioned in a previous post. This is something new. I’ve never used so many paper flowers in one card before, and not like this. It’s fun trying out new stuff!

A birthday card with a cow on. Mooo! I got a friend working at a dairy (at the sales office) and I thought a cow on the front was suitable.

This is a card for my friend Linda. We’ve started a two-months competition; to eat more fruits and walk more. We’re gonna get a penalty point for every time don’t make our goal. The one with the most points will have to make the other a three course meal.

I made this card to kick start the competition. It says ‘let the competition begin’. And the corn is saying ‘good luck’. I love to create and send suprise cards like that. It makes people happy and then I get happy. Win-win situation.

Scrapbooking fair + cards

So I went to a scrapbooking fair last saturday. I love those kind of fairs. You have everything at one place. The fair was not as big as the last one I went to, but that was expected. There is two fairs a year; one small and one big. The big one will be in September I think. I’m already looking forward to it!

We, Sigrund, her neighbour and me, we came to the fair before it opened. The plan was to come just when it opened, but to didn’t take as long to get there as expected so we were ten minutes early.

It was nice to be there when they opened, because then it wasn’t so crowded and you could walk around without bumping into each other.

I hadn’t really set any limits to how much money I could spend. Probably I should have? I bought quite a lot. But when I think about it, lots of the things were on sale. I got good deals on almost everything I bought.

This is the paper I came home with. I like strong colors in the paper. It fits the kind of cards I make.

I also bought a lot of these colored letters. I had a hard time choosing what color to pick, so I ended up with lots of different ones. That is so typical me. If i can’t chose I end up with everything. These letters with glue on the backside is so handy. Easy to use and fast!

I also got five rubber stamps on sale for 125 NOK, some pens in pastel colors, ink in different colors and some others stuff too. I’m very happy with what I got!

Saturday evening and on sunday I put almost everything I bought into use. I managed to make four cards; three on sunday for Chantal and one for myself on sunday. I’m happy with that!

This is what I came up with.
