I spend a lot of time on Instagram, both posting photos myself and watching / liking other photos. Scrolling through my feed is a perfect thing to do on the bus, on my way to work or back home. Instagram is one big pool of inspiration, following the right people. For me who loves photography, it’s a perfect place to be.
Lately I’ve been inspired by this photographer named Trond Lindholm, who I follow on Instagram. He posts only black & white photos from Oslo and his street photography (where strangers are involved) is beautiful. I’ve been thinking to myself that I would love to do more of that myself. It’s not a new thought though, I’ve wanted to do that for a long time, maybe years. But why haven’t I done it?
The main reason is that I’m so insecure, so shy. I always think that people will yell at me, come up to me and ask me what the hell I’m doing, that there will be some sort of uncomfortable confrontation and I don’t think I would handle that very well. This fear might be irrational. I’ve read from people doing street photography, that anything hardly happens; most people don’t care, they just smile and let you photograph.
So I’m giving myself a task – go out and do more street photography.
Back to Instagram. I follow various people and two of them are great photographers living in Oslo. Recently they posted photographs from two subway stations near me, one that’s brand new and one that I’ve visited before. They posted some awesome photos and I instantly wanted to photograph there myself. Instant inspiration. Finding one great locations is great, but TWO! That’s just friggen fantastic.
I wanted photos I could instantly post on Instagram, so after work here the other day I took the subway to both locations and took some photos with my phone (Samsung S7 Edge, which has a great camera). Just as I’ve been doing for a long time now.
Enough talking, you probably came here for the photographs, right? I’ll treat you with last days subway photos and some other street photos I’ve taken recently. Enjoy! I would be really happy if you let me know what you think of them.
Great shots. I’m clumsy with a camera but I love the feeling of these photos. I just might give street photography a try too.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for stopping. Someone once said life starts at the end of your comfort zone. Maybe we both should do street photography? :-)
Beautiful Black & White Photography. Please feel free to visit my blog some time :-).

Thank you for stopping by and for your kind words. I’ll pop over to your blog to have a look once I get time :)
Gorgeous photos.
Thank you so much for the lovely photos, much appreciated! 🤗
Wow I love them. I love street photography. I would never practise it here as much. I feel the UK is the land of privacy and generally minding your own so it would be imposing. People mind less abroad. Or maybe I feel braver as no one knows me. Anyway. What’s your instagram? Would love to give you a follow.
Thank you for your kind comment. It might be easier abroas, since no one knows you, yes. I find it equally hard abroad. My instagram name is mazarin_ 😊
I like this a lots. Cool urban street photography series!
Rainy greetings from Berlin,

I have been following on Instagram – they’re amazing! I think B&W works really well for street photography, it enhances the light and shapes. I really like how you paired some pictures here, of the same location with/without a subject. I think it would make for a cool photo series, to present them all in that way.
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I agree, B&W works really well for street photography. Great idea that photo series. Thanks for the tip. 😊
Awesome photography skills! I still aim to improve my photography, have you got any tips?
Watch also my photos .
Hey! I’m into photography also but I’ve never really have thought about street photography. I think that definitely might be something I would like to try! Check out my photos on my blog? :)
The photos are amazing. I have also wanted to try more street photography, but I’m also shy and with my anxiety it just seems something I would probably not do.
Amazing post!!😊😊
I always stop over whenever I read a word “Street” and all credits for this goes to what I saw and covered my experiences in my post (https://sphericalinsight.wordpress.com/2016/10/07/the-local-street-musicians/)
Great Shots of Your and Monochromes are timelessly amazing. Keep Clicking…
Nice shots. I like how you used the shapes and angles.
Beautiful photos will check you out on Insta.
Thanks for sharing. Black and white makes the photos more interesting. It works especially well on street photography.

Love the vector lines in these. My favourite is the escalators.
Nice! I think you’re off to a good start! Most importantly, you have a desire to do it and it is very addicting.

Awesome photographs!
Wow these are phenomenal! Keep up the good work :)
There’s so many ways to define the genre. I like what you’ve done – a strong sense of isolation and a graphical qulity.
I think you did a great job for using a camera from a phone :)
Amazing photographs!
Thank you for stopping by and the kind comment! 🤗
I love that the photographs look so real and natural with the people and also the photos without people, it really shows the different sides to things<3
Thank you for your kind comment! 😙
Nice post. have a look around for a used Canon 5D or any DSLR. Get yourself a zoom lens and you are ready for some real street “walking portraits” . get a kit or 50mm lens for general building shots. My blog https://rebelopticsblog.wordpress.com/
Have you tried urban photography. That’s great fun also. I need to find time to get out more with my camera.
