A taste of summer

The summer is here. No wait, the summer was here. Now it’s more or less gone – back to 15 degrees, half cloudy, windy and a few rain drops here and there. It was fun as long as it lasted.

The real good weather started last week, on wednesday I think (Hello, Altzheimer! You seem to arrive early…). It was sunny, not a cloud in sight and well over 25 degrees outside. It was perfect, almost too perfect. At some point maybe a bit too hot, if I’m allowed to say that. Some do say we shouldn’t complain on the heat when it finally arrives. I, on the other hand, is not one of them. I complain when it gets too hot, doesn’t matter if it’s been like that for a long time or if just a few days.

The sunny days was mostly spent outside; tanning, reading, barbequeing (eating oh so lovely cheese hotdogs. Oh the hotdogs!), planting and photographing. I’m very pleased that the great weather arrived with Whitsun, when I had one day off (the monday). I spent my days (away from friday) at my parents place at Lierfoss. Spending time there when the weather is great, is just so lovely. Soaking in the sun, walking barefoot in the grass and photographing with my awesome Canon camera is something you don’t want to miss.

The weather abruptly changed on monday. What a bummer! It was back to pants and a thin cardigan to keep warm. The wind came from north and was cold! So far the not so great weather has stayed. It doesn’t look promising, but I cross my fingers and hope the great weather will return some time soon. In the meantime, I can look at the photos I took last weekend and dream about hot summer days!

These photos are all from my parents place. You’ll see the grand apple tree with LOTS of flowers, my dad belowed cherrie-tree that was new last year and is blossoming this year, a painted wheel barrow, purple flowers, pretty lilacs that smells heavenly (too bad you can’t smell them!), dads collections of shovels (why have only one, when you can have four?), me playing with water while watering plants and a single bird on a wire.

Enjoy!

I took all these photos with my 50 mm lens. That combinded with my new camera, the Canon 7D… ah, it’s just amazing! The combonation is killer. I loved my old 450 D and I’ve used that a lot, but the new one, I love even more. I love it so much I gave it a name! It’s a she and her name is Sandy. When you go out of your comfort zone and not shoot on auto, you can do so much. I love the AV (apeture) mode. I know the camera and I, we’re gonna have much fun in the future!
